4 Books That Have Shifted My Mindset

Reading has always been one of my favorite things to do since I was child.

When I first became a mom, I let guilt stop me from doing the things I loved but I'm glad I've been able to get back to it!

Here are four books that have helped me grow over the past couple of years:

  1. More Than Enough by Elaine Welteroth

  2. Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Tawwab

  3. Atomic Habits by James Clear

  4. The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan

Here are my thoughts on each book:

My Thoughts on More Than Enough:

My favorite quote from More Than Enough was "In order to change the stories, we must change the storytellers."

I read More Than Enough in 2020 and it literally changed my life. Elaine gave me the courage to launch my blog and start empowering women to write and speak more.

More Than Enough reminded me that there is space for me and my storytelling. I refuse to let the world write history without me.

My advice to you is to write the book. Launch the podcast. Build the platform that amplifies our voices and never forget that OUR STORIES and OUR VOICES MATTER!

My Thoughts on Set Boundaries, Find Peace:

I highly recommend reading Set Boundaries, Find Peace because it presents simple yet powerful ways to establish healthy boundaries in all aspects of life. I love how Nedra explained the different types of boundaries, the impact of having boundaries vs not having boundaries, and how to set boundaries in different relationships like romantic, friendships, and work.

I can’t recall anyone in my family modeling healthy boundaries so I'm glad I picked this book up. It reminded me to take care of myself and ask for what I need without feeling guilty.

If you don't have this on your bookshelf you should!

MY THOUGHTS ON ATOMIC HABITS:

Atomic Habits is a great read if you're looking to reset and get back on track. I started reading it when I was on my weight loss journey and it helped tremendously. It motivated me to keep promises to myself and strive for the best. The goal is to get 1% better each day and remember that small steps make a huge difference!

my thoughts on the one thing:

I am currently reading The One Thing and I love it. It's getting my life all the way together! As a multi-passionate person, I have so many big ideas and sometimes it's hard to focus. One of my goals this quarter is to become more disciplined and consistent and this book is really helping me get my priorities straight. One of my favorite quotes from the book is, “Until my ONE thing is done, everything else is a distraction!!
