Keep reading to find out how each one can contribute to your productivity.

1.     MAKE A TO-DO LIST AT NIGHT

Having a night routine is just as important as having a morning routine. If you plan your morning the night before, you will wake up feeling more organized. I recommend minimizing your to-do list and focusing on 1-3 things you want to accomplish. The goal is to complete tasks so don’t set yourself up for failure.

2.     WAKE UP AN HOUR EARLIER

Please stop saying, “I don’t have time to take care of myself.”
I’ve said that before, but I learned that you must make time. If you can make time to work, take care of your family, and watch Netflix, you can make time for yourself. By waking up an hour earlier, I’ve been able to read, journal, and exercise more.

3.     GET OUT OF BED

You are not awake until you get out of bed!!! Your brain connects your bed to sleeping so if you try to work in bed, you will most likely fall asleep. I’ve been there multiple times!

4.     AVOID CHECKING SOCIAL MEDIA WHEN YOU WAKE UP

When you wake up and immediately check your phone, you are letting other people’s opinions in your mind. The first ten minutes of your day should be dedicated to meditating and visualizing what you want your day to look like. You can also start your day with reading your affirmations.

5.     GET RID OF DISTRACTIONS

One of our biggest distractions is our cell phones. When it is time to work, try putting your phone in another room. If your phone is out of sight, you are less likely to think about it. Your children and your significant other can be a distraction too. Set boundaries with your family and make sure that you stick to them!

6.     CHANGE YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

Sometimes a change in your environment is all you need to be more productive. The library is my new favorite place to work. I love it there! Being in a quiet environment away from home helps me stay focused.

7.     BRAIN DUMP

We are not machines, and we can’t remember everything. Take a few moments each week to dump your thoughts on paper. Write down everything that comes to mind. (Appointments, deadlines, shopping lists, ideas, activities, etc.) Read this blog post: How to Crush Your Monthly Goals for more brain dump ideas.

8.     FOCUS ON ONE GOAL AT A TIME

You can do anything, but you can’t do everything. I know I’m not the only one who wants to accomplish a million things. I have so many great ideas but sometimes I struggle with prioritizing them. Right now, I am planning to accomplish one goal a month/ quarter depending how long it may take me to complete it.

9.     TAKE A BREAK

Rest is not a reward. It is a priority. Your body and your mind need time to rejuvenate. I used to feel guilty for taking days off, but I realized I’m more efficient when I do so. Moving forward, incorporate at least one rest day a week into your schedule.
