4 Key Takeaways from Podcast Movement 2021
This year was my first-time attending Podcast Movement which is a conference that educates and connects active and aspiring podcasters all around the world. It was also my first-time visiting Nashville, Tennessee so I was ecstatic about the new experiences.
One month later and I’m still filled with inspiration and gratefulness. Today I am sharing my top 4 takeaways from the conference.
THERE’S ENOUGH SPACE FOR EVERYONE
No one is you and that is your superpower. We all have different stories to tell, and we all bring different perspectives to the table. Instead of envying another woman in the same space as you, reach out to her and let her know that you admire her. Collaboration is more important than competition in podcasting. Lift other women up every chance you get. Always keep in mind that your listeners are tuning in to hear YOU. They were attracted to you for a reason. You belong here!!!
BUILD YOUR OWN COMMUNITY
There are people in this world who are ready to support you. All you need to do is show up! Motivational speaker, Eric Thomas (ET) said it best, “Go where you’re celebrated, not where you’re tolerated.” Instead of trying to appeal to everyone, focus on building your core audience. The right people will find you and remain by your side.
NEVER GIVE UP
Everyone’s podcasting journey starts the same. The numbers are low, the audience is small, and the check is nonexistent. There are going to be times when you feel alone and want to give up, but you must remember why you started. Your favorite podcaster is thriving right now because she/he got started and never gave up. Nothing happens overnight. The key to longevity is discipline and consistency.
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH FELLOW PODCASTERS
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. If you want to grow you have to step out of your comfort zone and collaborate with other creatives in your niche. No one is going to allow you to pick their brain so be prepared to add value to the conversations you initiate as well. We are all doing dynamic things and can help other evolve.
If you missed Podcast Movement 2021, you definitely missed out on some amazing conversations from the best speakers in the industry. A few of the speakers I met/listened to were:
